USCG Captain Rich Doherty: I grew up in New England where fishing and outdoors
were not only a passion but an obsession. I was very fortunate to be asked to become a
member of the famous Rod Jockeys fishing club (A sanctioned B.A.S.S. club). Through
this club, I started to qualify for B.A.S.S. tournaments that lead me to The American
Bass Anglers circuit (I was hooked). During the long New England winters, I would
spend Sunday mornings watching my fishing idol, Mr. Flip Pallot. With his poetic tone,
he would throw a lure to the mangroves in some remote area of Florida, and I would
fantasize about fishing these waters someday.
Now I’m in some of the most famous sportfishing waters in the world. Like Chris, I
worked in public safety for over 25 years as a full-time Firefighter/Paramedic/Rescue
Diver. I have dive certifications through P.A.D.I. (Advanced Open Water) and Dive
Rescue International as a dive medic. Whether it’s bass fishing in Lake Tarpon or flats/
inshore fishing for Snook, Redfish or just enjoying our many species of wildlife we can
take an average day and make it EPIC!
When you book with me, you will be fishing on a 2018 Blue Wave 1900 STL, powered by a Suzuki 145 DT.
